Burson Marsteller revealed four out of five employers believe benefits are essential to attract and keep talented employees. However, the majority of employers do not feel the need to provide benefits to independent contractors.

In a separate study, it was revealed that employees look at health benefits first. Justworks’ original study recorded 88 of employee-respondents who said it is important to have the options and quality of health benefits. However, the percentage of employers who offer health insurance as part of their benefits coverage only stood at 41.

Paid leaves also play a factor in considering a job offer. 88 of employees deem paid time off is important. On the other hand, only 36 of employers included this in their benefits package. While it is not essential, employees also want other perks which include mental and physical health benefits in their coverage. The statistics showed 26 of those surveyed said employee perks including gym memberships as well as flexible schedules are important when they consider a job offer.
